Emma Kerslake

Sqn Ldr Emma Kerslake recently commissioned into the Royal Air Force in September 2025 following an extensive career spanning over three decades across the Royal Corps of Signals and Royal Air Force Medical Services. She brings extensive operational, leadership, and personnel management experience across multiple domains, including healthcare delivery, aeromedical evacuation, and strategic workforce planning. 

She currently serves within the People & Families Support pillar within the People Operations Profession. Emma began her service career in 1993 as a Telecommunications Operator in the Royal Corps of Signals, completing tours in Germany and UK and an operational tour in Bosnia before transferring to the Royal Air Force in 1998. Specialising as an RAF Medic, she held roles in primary healthcare, aeromedical evacuation, rehabilitation, and medical support including deployments to Kosovo, Iraq, Ascension Island, and the Falkland Islands. 

Her leadership appointments include Station Warrant Officer at RAF High Wycombe and No. 2 Group Command Warrant Officer, providing strategic leadership in personnel management and operational support. Championed initiatives that strengthened force readiness, improved welfare provision, and enhanced organisational resilience, directly influencing operational effectiveness across multiple units. 

Throughout her career, Emma has been recognised with multiple honours, including the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal and Clasp, Meritorious Service Medal, and a Deputy Commanders Capability & Air Member for Personnel Commendation. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care and is a Chartered Manager and qualified coach and mentor. 

An accomplished athlete, Emma represented both the British Army and Royal Air Force in skiing and athletics, achieving notable success at inter-service competitions. She is married to Andy, a retired RAF Provost Officer, and they have two children at university. Outside work, she enjoys family life, outdoor activities, and walking her two Labradors.
