Giulia Scanferla
Head of Sustainability Reporting at British American Tobacco
Giulia am a sustainability leader who turns complex, enterprise wide challenges into measurable strategic outcomes that influence decision making at the highest levels. At BAT, she led the organisation’s first end to end double materiality assessment: a three year effort engaging more than 3,000 stakeholders, which reshaped our enterprise risk profile, drove new 2030 sustainability targets, and strengthened the foundations of our 2050 Climate Transition Plan. This work fundamentally shifted how BAT identifies, prioritises and governs sustainability risks and opportunities across its global footprint.
Giulia then redesigned BAT’s global sustainability reporting ecosystem, creating a unified, narrative and data driven reporting model that connects 200+ disclosures to long term value creation. This transformation has improved transparency, strengthened governance, and enhanced credibility with capital markets; supporting stronger ESG ratings, securing analyst recognition, and shaping investor understanding of BAT’s transformation.
Her leadership is shaped by lived experience: from growing up in a family business to academic study across the world, and personal moments that deepened my commitment to climate and health. Today, she lead a high performing team and convene cross functional coalitions across more than 50 colleagues and 150+ markets. She converts evidence into clarity, helping manage risk and unlock value.
